the composer ...

Jan Freidlin was born in Chita (Southern Siberia) in 1944. He lived in Odessa - Ukraine (1946 -1990), studied in Odessa Music College (1959 -1963) and in Odessa State Conservatory – piano and composition (1965 -1971), taught in the Odessa Stolyarsky Special Music College (1974 -1990) where he was the head of music theory department. In 1990 he emigrated to Israel. He taught at the Tel-Aviv Rubin Academy of Music (1990 - 1993). Since 1991 he teaches at the Tel-Aviv Levinsky College of Music. He was a member of USSR composers union (1975 - 1990). Since 1990 he is a member of ACUM. (Israel) and CPCC (USA) 
Among his important achievements are:
Grand Prix of Warna Cinema Festival (Bulgaria) for the original music to the movie “The Summer has Begun” (1978).
The Acum Prize (Israel 1993) for “Miscenscenes” - Sonata for violin and cello.
The ISCM - Liberson Prize (Israel 1995) for piano trio no.2.
2nd Prize of G.F.A. (Claremont, CA, USA - 1995) for “Letters from Arles” (Van Gogh) for guitar.
Sonata in 3 visions” for harp solo was chosen by 13 International Harp Contest 1998 as required Israeli work.
21 - 24 October of 2007 - series of "premiere" performances of "POEM OF THE CONTRASTS" , commissioned by IPO and played by Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Zubin Mehta.
